What is Timur Pepper? It is a rare faux pepper of Nepal that grows wild on a small endemic tree in the Mahabharat mountain range at an altitude of 2000m. It is grown in a very traditional way, without intensive practices or the use of chemicals, and for which Robertet guarantees complete traceability.
Once the harvest is completed, the berries are placed in the sun to dry for about a week. In the sun, the the shell opens up to reveal a black seed. The timur berries are then sorted by hand using bamboo sieves.
Then, the timur pepper is processed in our facilities in Grasse, it is extracted with supercritical CO2, a specific process that allows to preserve the light compounds and extract the spicy components.
Very close to the Sichuan pepper, its citrus peel fragrance is inimitable, somewhere between blood orange, kumquat, lemon and tangerine, with subtle spicy and floral notes. Timur Pepper began being used by perfumers to bring a citrus note to the ferns, woody and hesperidic accords. It is a brilliant top note.
